New Crosswalk + Signal Installed On Major Cranford Road
Cranford's Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety Committee had been working to install this crosswalk for nearly four years.

CRANFORD, NJ — A new pedestrian crossing signal and crosswalk were unveiled in Cranford this past weekend.
Union County Commissioner Bette Jane Kowalski joined Cranford Mayor Kathleen Miller Prunty and members of the Cranford Township Committee at the unveiling ceremony of a new pedestrian crossing signal at the corner of Springfield Avenue and Penn Road.
The new signal and crosswalk are located a block away from Union College and across the street from Nomahegan Park. The aim is to help ensure the safety of residents in a heavy foot traffic area.

According to Tapinto, the Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety Committee has been working toward installing this crosswalk for nearly for years. The process was difficult because Springfield Avenue is a county road and needed "substantial infrastructure upgrades."
New handicap accessible sidewalks also needed to be installed, as well as flashing pedestrian crossing signs, according to Tapinto.
