Police: Resident Nabs Burglary Suspect on North Ave.

Police activity from November 2-9.

Cranford police arrested a burglary suspect with a little help from a town resident. Here's a look at that incident and more from last week's police records.

Thursday, November 5:
A Cranford resident walking on North Avenue heard a loud noise coming from the area of North Avenue East and Alden Street at 10:06 p.m. The witness saw a smashed window on a property on North Avenue East and watched a white male taking a bicycle from inside the property. The witness grabbed the subject, later identified as a 30-year-old man from Linden, and held him down on the ground until police arrived. Officers Kelly Reider and Derek Farbanec took the suspect into custody. He was charged with burglary, attempted theft, criminal mischief, possession of prescription drugs and possession of CDS paraphernalia. He also had outstanding warrants from Newark and West New York.
