Road Work, Thin Crust Pizza Special and More

What you need to know today in Cranford.

On the roads: New Jersey American Water work is expected to begin work today on Springfield Ave. from Penn Road to West End Place, according to Cranford PD. Northbound traffic on Springfield Avenue will be detoured at Orange Avenue to Kenilworth Boulevard, while southbound traffic will not be impacted. All roadwork will be in the northbound lane and is expected to be complete in four weeks. 

Summertime reading: Teen Summer Reading is ongoing at the Cranford Public Library. Prizes are available. Ages 12 to 18 are encouraged to join, read some books and attend the programs.

Cranford Rec. Basketball Registration: Recreation Basketball registration begins today and runs through October 1st. Registration MUST be done in-person; online registration is not available for this program. Open to grades 3rd to 12th. Teen Movie Night: The Cranford Public Library is screening Bridge to Terabithia at 2 p.m. “Jess Aarons just never seems to fit in no matter how hard he tries. When his goal to become the fastest runner in middle school is unexpectedly thwarted by a newly arrived classmate who enters in an "all boys" race and leaves her competitors in the dust, Jess soon strikes up a friendship with the imaginative outsider. Their bond is soon cemented thanks to Leslie's love for storytelling and Jess' skill as an artist, and the two lonely kids create a secret kingdom called Terabithia that is only accessible by swinging over a stream on a nearby rope,” All Movie reports.
