Students Write Persuasive Letters To Help Cranford Animal Rescue
Local seventh graders will write persuasive letters to a Cranford business of their choice to raise money and awareness for animal adoption.
CRANFORD, NJ — A middle school English teacher in North Plainfield has launched an annual project with her seventh grade students to benefit Best Friend Dog and Animal Adoption based out of Cranford.
As part of the project, the seventh graders will choose a local Cranford business to write a persuasive letter to and convince them to donate to the animal rescue. Not only are the students hoping to raise money with their letters, but also raise awareness for the need to adopt rescue dogs rather than shop for them.
English teacher Kate Friedman said this has become an annual project she does with her students, as it's been successful each year.

Another group has chosen to write to Jimmy Donaldson, a.k.a. "Mr. Beast," who is known as YouTube's biggest philanthropist.
In addition to writing this project, Friedman said Student Council will sell paper paw prints for $1 each. For one week this month, students and faculty may purchase any number of paw prints. The purchaser's name will be written on each paw and they will be displayed in the hallway.
Friedman said Best Friend Dog and Animal Adoption will use all money raised to save one dog from a high kill shelter. Students who participate in the fundraiser will be entered into a contest, and the winner will have the opportunity to name the newly rescued dog.
Friedman's class will have a classroom celebration with the new dog to announce its name.
