They Did It! Cranford Teens Break World Record for Largest Can Pyramid
On May 4, Cranford teens created a pyramid of 25,585 cans which broke the Guinness World Record for largest can pyramid.
The Cranford Teen Advisory board has been on a mission since Super Storm Sandy hit to collect cans for victims, while also breaking the Guinness World Record for largest can pyramid; this Saturday the teens broke the record, creating a pyramid of 25,585 cans.
It took around 13 hours for the teens to complete the pyramid of 15 and ¾ inches and break the record, that’s about 2,000 cans per hour, according to the group’s Twitter account.

A generous donation of about 20,000 cans by ShopRite’s Partners in Caring program on April 11 helped the Cranford Teen Advisory Board get closer to their goal.
According to the Guinness World Record website, the previous record holder was an engineering firm in Missouri who created a pyramid of 17,575 cans in 2011. The Cranford Teen Advisory Board still has to submit a video and documentation of the pyramid, but as it stands they broke the previous record by a significant margin.
The pyramid will be on display in the lobby of the Cranford Community Center until May 8 when the New Jersey food bank will collect the cans for those in need. Be sure to check it out!
