'Treasured Landmark' In Cranford Honored By Township Committee
"The vitality and character of the town" is on full display at this business, Mayor Terrence Curran said.

CRANFORD, NJ — Tuesday was officially declared "Cranford Theater Celebration Day" by Mayor Terrence Curran at the night's Township Committee meeting.
Owner Doreen Sayegh joined Curran to accept the proclamation after the historic venue held its grand reopening on Nov. 25 after it was closed for months due to a partial ceiling collapse on April 30.
"It was definitely tough," Singh said of the time that went by, "but it was totally worth it." The Theater is now open as a renovated space that will hold concerts, comedy shows, and other events along with traditional movies.

Now in its 99th year, Singh said she and her team have already started to prepare for next year's centennial celebration.

"We're not just movies anymore," added Singh. "We always want to have something for everyone."
Curran called the Theater a pillar of culture that "strengthens our downtown, supports local businesses, and contributes to the vitality and character of the town." He also thanked Singh, her team, local officials, and workers for their efforts in bringing this spark back to life in Cranford.
"It's not just about the curtains coming back up and the lights coming back on," Curran said. "It's really about an adaptation to the new environment."
