Union County Teen Arrested for Burglarizing Vehicles, Cops Say

Police say they charged three teens with burglarizing vehicles; officers also recovered a stolen gun.

Woodbridge police have charged four teens with burglarizing vehicles and when they took those teens into custody, they also recovered a stolen gun, authorities said.

Police said the investigation began after numerous thefts to unlocked vehicles in the Iselin section of town between 9 p.m. Aug. 25 and 9 a.m. Aug. 26.

According to a news release from Capt. Roy Hoppock:

On Aug. 27, officers from the Tactical Unit were in the area of LaGuardia Avenue when they saw four people walk past parked cars, then saw two of the teens trying the door handle on a vehicle parked in a driveway.

The teens entered the vehicle and a police officer approached them, but when he identified himself, they ran away.

With help from patrol units and other tactical officers, all four were caught. Police also recovered a stolen, semi-automatic handgun.

Masiyah Jamaelle Williams, 18, of Trieste Street, of Iselin, a 17-year-old Iselin boy, a 14-year-old Iselin boy and a 16-year-old Plainfield boy were taken into custody. The names of the juveniles were not released because of their age.

All four teens were charged with obstructing the administration of law, conspiracy, and two counts each of burglary and theft.

The 17-year-old was also charged with possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, possession of prohibited weapons and devices, receiving stolen property, possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana, and possession of cocaine.

Williams was sent to the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center in North Brunswick, with bail set at $10,000.

The 17-year-old was sent to the Juvenile Detention Center, and the two other teens were released to their parents.
