To the Editor,
Let me tell you why I have decided to support Kevin Illing for the Township Committee. I have known Kevin for seven years and have witnessed his devotion to the town where he grew up and attended Cranford Public schools. As an adult he decided to live in his home town.
I have seen Kevin's devotion to the town in many ways. Look at what he has done at Droescher's Mill. In the short time he has owned the mill, he has invested his time and money in preserving the historic nature of the building. His plan includes restoring the water wheel, which would provide the ability to generate electric power.
The Mill is one of the gathering points for the Cranford River Cleanup, and Kevin has hosted teams who do cleanups along the Rahway River.
As a member of the Planning Board for the past five years, Kevin has shown a true understanding of the unique qualities that make Cranford one of the best places to live.
Serving on the steering committee, he worked countless hours on the recently adopted Cranford Master Plan.
His devotion to the town can also be seen in his membership on the Recreation Advisory Board, and as a founding member of the Centennial Village Committee, in the neighborhood where he grew up.
It is not often that we have an opportunity like this to elect one of our own native sons to the Township Committee. I hope that you will agree, and I urge you to vote for Kevin Illing on November 3rd.
Sincerely,
Carolyn Vollero
Former Mayor of Cranford
