Dad Shoots Teen Daughter

A Stafford Township man shot his 13-year-old daughter in the torso while cleaning his gun, authorities said.

Edgar Baerga, 47, was charged Saturday with aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a minor, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer announced Sunday.

As of midday Sunday, the girl is said to be in stable condition.

1 Killed, 1 Injured In Route 37 Hit-And-Run Crash

A Morris County teen has been charged in a hit-and-run crash on Route 37 Saturday night that killed one person and seriously injured another, authorities said.

Abel Mathukutty, 18, of Lake Hiawatha, was charged with leaving the scene of a motor vehicle crash causing death and with leaving the scene of a motor vehicle crash causing serious bodily injury in the crash that happened just before 7:30 p.m., Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said.

Man Charged In Fatal Hit-&-Run

A 41-year-old North Brunswick resident has been charged following a fatal hit-and-run crash that claimed the life of a New Brunswick woman, authorities said.

Juan Martinez-Gaspar was taken into custody without incident after investigators determined he was driving the pickup truck that struck Elvia Gavarrete, 48, of New Brunswick, at the intersection of Lee Street and Suydam Street on Saturday night.

Driver Killed After Being Thrown From Car In Crash

A 20-year-old Toms River woman was killed after she was thrown from her vehicle in a crash on the Garden State Parkway on Sunday, according to media reports.

Giselle Munoz Villar was driving on the 89A entrance ramp to the northbound lanes in Lakewood when she lost control of her car, reported NJ.com.

The vehicle ran off the road, overturned multiple times and the driver was thrown from her car. She died of her injuries, according to the report.

3 Stabbed, Dozens Arrested In Jersey Shore

Three people were stabbed and more than 70 people were arrested as about 100,000 tourists descended on Seaside Heights for Memorial Day weekend, authorities said.

The three stabbings happened during separate incidents.

Issues on Sunday evening also led Seaside Heights Police Chief Thomas Boyd to shut down the boardwalk, Detective Steve Korman said.
