East Brunswick To Host First Pickleball Tournament

Proceeds from the tournament will benefit the Recreation Department's toddler programming.

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ - The Township will be hosting its first-ever Pickleball Tournament on Aug. 9 at Community Park.

The proceeds of this tournament will benefit the Recreation Department's growing toddler programming.

There will be two skill brackets - mixed doubles - each with 24 slots available.

The bracket size will be finalized when the Recreation Department has a final registration number.

The tournament begins at 5:30 p.m. and ends at 9:30 p.m.

Every team will play five games, limited to 15 minutes each. There will be a preliminary round of three games and a playoff round of two games after the preliminary round.

The top six teams will move to the top group of the playoff round and the bottom six teams will move to the consolation group of the playoff round.

Each team will receive three points for a win, one point for a tie, and no points for a loss.

The tournament will follow the current Pickleball rules of play. The full list of rules will be posted at the courts.

At the tournament, there will be refreshments for sale to support the East Brunswick Youth Council and prizes will be awarded for first, second, and third place in each bracket.

Players must bring their own paddles, but balls will be provided. Registration fee is $30 and $20 for EBPC members.
