East Brunswick Awards Contracts For Tennis, Basketball Court Construction At 2 Parks

The new courts represent a significant investment in East Brunswick's recreational infrastructure

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — East Brunswick Township Council approved contracts totaling $735,000 Monday night for the repairs of tennis and basketball courts at two municipal parks, replacing aging facilities that have fallen into disrepair.

The council awarded both contracts to Field Turf USA, Inc., with the larger project slated for Pine Ridge Park and a second initiative planned for Lenape Park.

At Pine Ridge Park, the township will invest $415,000 to construct two concrete tennis courts and one basketball court. Meanwhile, Lenape Park will receive two new concrete tennis courts under a separate $320,000 contract.

According to the resolutions passed by the council, the existing courts at both locations are currently in disrepair and require complete replacement rather than renovation.

Council Vice President Dana Zimbicki highlighted several features of the new construction, noting that the tennis courts will include pickleball overlays to accommodate the growing popularity of that sport. The project also comes with an impressive 50-year structural warranty.

The township plans to use post-tension concrete for the construction, a material choice based on past successful projects in East Brunswick. Business Administrator Joe Criscuolo explained the practical benefits of this approach.

"It's easier to repair, so we are going to continue with that, especially over at Lenape (park)," Criscuolo told the council.

The new courts represent a significant investment in East Brunswick's recreational infrastructure, providing residents with modern facilities for tennis, basketball, and pickleball activities. Construction timelines and completion dates were not immediately announced.
