East Brunswick Man Walks Into Police Department, Admits To Killing Wife: Cops

Marsail Botros, 58, of East Brunswick was pronounced dead at the scene, Middlesex County Prosecutor said.

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — An East Brunswick man has been charged with murder after he confessed to killing his wife, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Chief Frank LoSacco of the East Brunswick Police Department said.

On Friday, at 12:14 p.m., Ashraf Tawfik, 60, of East Brunswick, walked into the East Brunswick Police Department and told cops that he killed his wife, Ciccone said.

Authorities responded to his residence on Yorktown Road and found Marsail Botros, 58, of East Brunswick, unresponsive. Botros was pronounced dead at the scene, Ciccone said.

Tawfik was arrested without incident and charged with first-degree murder and third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon.

Tawfik is being held at the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center pending the results of a Pre-Trial Detention hearing. The investigation is active and continuing.
