A child on a bicycle was struck and killed by a vehicle in a residential neighborhood of Jersey City on Friday evening, officials said. The boy was struck in the area of Jersey Avenue and Sixth Street, police said. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and was cooperative, she said.

Boat Crashes Into Jersey Shore Bridge

A boat crashed into the Rumson-Sea Bright Bridge on Friday evening, prompting an investigation by local authorities.

Troopers responded to the accident at 7:39 p.m. on Friday at the bridge in Monmouth Beach Borough, the NJSP said. Based on a preliminary investigation, a 56-foot vessel lost directional control and impacted the bridge. No injuries were reported.

Wildfire Spreads To 9 Square Miles In South Jersey

A wildfire in Wharton State Forest swelled to 9 square miles but has been largely contained, officials said Sunday.

The Mines Spung Wildfire, detected Friday morning in Shamong Township, brought smoke, hazy skies and fallen ash to South Jersey's more populous communities located west of the remote area. The fire is slowing down, creeping and smoldering within the containment lines that crews created.

20-Year-Old Shot Dead In Broad Daylight

A 20-year-old man was shot and killed in broad daylight Saturday in Cumberland County, authorities said. Roshaud Rhett was shot around 11:05 a.m. on the 300 block of Maurice Street in Millville, authorities said.

Suspect In Carjacking Shot By Police

A suspect in a carjacking was shot by police during a confrontation on Saturday in North Arlington, according to media reports.

Police approached the suspect around 5 p.m. on Porete Avenue, and at some point during the confrontation was shot by police, News12 reported.

The suspect was taken to a nearby hospital, currently discharged but remains in police custody.
