Police Wanted: South River PD Hiring Special Law Enforcement Officer
Applications are available through Dec. 30, officials said. Here's how to apply:
SOUTH RIVER, NJ - South River police are accepting applications for a Class I Special Law Enforcement Officer, department officials said.
Under the direction of the Chief of Police, special law enforcement officers are assigned to court security details, special events, parking enforcement, as well as to supplement routine patrol.
Interested applicants can obtain an application on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the South River Records Bureau (61 Main St.). The deadline to obtain an application is Dec. 30.

Appointees will be required to be New Jersey residents over the age of 18 with a minimum of a high school diploma or GED equivalent and have a valid New Jersey driver’s license in good standing. An extensive background check, a physical including drug testing and a psychological exam will be conducted.
“Applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible,” the department said.
