Rachel’s Challenge is Coming to East Brunswick Public Schools
The Student Services Department will present Parent University/Rachel's Challenge at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 14, at the East Brunswick Performing Arts Center.
Every day students in schools across America suffer from prejudice, bullying, school violence, apathy, and indifference. These issues affect the very core and culture of a school environment and the results trickle down to each and every student. Rachel’s Challenge, the largest school program in America, addresses these issues and it is making a difference.
Rachel Scott was the first person killed at Columbine High School on April 20, 1999. Her acts of kindness and compassion, coupled with the contents of her six diaries, have become the foundation for one of the most life-changing school programs in America. Powerful video/audio footage of Rachel’s life and the Columbine tragedy hold student’s spell bound during a school presentation that motivates them to a positive change in the way they treat others. Rachel’s Challenge has impacted schools all across the nation by letting students know that they have the power to make permanent, positive, cultural change in their own lives as well as in their schools and communities. For more information, visit www.RachelsChallenge.com.
Rachel’s Challenge will be presented at Churchill Jr. High School and East Brunswick High School. Students at Hammarskjold will see Rachel’s Impact, a middle school version of the same program. An Elementary version of the program focuses on the way Rachel lived and the power of small acts of kindness. We want our students to experience the impact of this program and to make a difference in our schools and our community.
