Tornado Confirmed In Atlantic County

A small tornado touched down in an Atlantic County Town on Friday afternoon as a powerful thunderstorm moved through the area, the National Weather Service confirmed.

The EF-0 tornado touched down at 12:52 p.m. in the Collings Lakes neighborhood of Buena Vista Township. It was 25 yards wide, had peak winds of 65-75 mph and traveled one half-mile, officials said. The tornado ended a minute after it started.

An EF-0 tornado is the weakest on a six-level scale used by the National Weather Service.

Child Killed In Car Crash Walking Home From Park

Two juveniles were hit, killing one, when a driver swerved off the road to avoid a collision with another car Saturday in Egg Harbor Township, police said.

The children were walking home from Bargaintown Park, police said.

Pilot Dies After Plane Crashes, Catches Fire

A pilot was killed after their plane crashed in Hunterdon County on Friday.

Around 4:40 p.m. on Friday, emergency responders were called to Airport Road and Mechlins Corner Road in Alexandria Township for a plane down. Authorities found a plane crash with fire in a heavily wooded area.

Mall Brawl Ends In Arrests

At least four minors were charged after a brawl broke out at a mall in Edison on Saturday, according to the mayor. Around 8 p.m. on Saturday, police were notified that over 300 youth were gathered at the Menlo Park Mall and a brawl ensued, Joshi said.

3 Firefighters Injured Battling Warehouse Blaze

Over a 100 firefighters battled a warehouse blaze in South Brunswick, with three suffering injuries, authorities said. The blaze was first reported at 12:40 p.m. on Friday at Victory Packaging on Corn Road.

The deep-seated fire was contained but firefighters remained at the location throughout the night.

Sinkhole Closes Portion Of Garden State Parkway

A sinkhole opened up in Middlesex County on Friday afternoon forcing the closure of the northbound express lanes in the area, according to media reports.

The sinkhole was reported around 12 p.m. at milepost 124, south of the Jon Bon Jovi Service Area in South Amboy, according to NJ.com.

Ensuing roadwork forced the closure of the northbound express lanes from Exit 114 in Holmdel to Exit 123 in Sayreville.
