Dispose Of Unused, Expired Prescription Drugs In East Windsor

Collected medications will be turned over to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration for final disposal.

EAST WINDSOR, NJ – The township will be collecting unused and expired prescription drugs during the National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on Saturday, Oct. 26, officials announced.

East Windsor is taking part in the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration-sponsored program Operation Medicine Cabinet. Residents can dispose of all unused, unwanted and expired prescription medications in a safe manner.

The Township has a drop box in the lobby of the police/court building (80 One Mile Road) for the collection of various medications and residents can drop it off between 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Collected medications will be turned over to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration on the next business day for final disposal.

"This program provides an opportunity to securely dispose of unused, unwanted and expired medications in an environmentally responsible manner and prevents possible misuse and access to these drugs by unauthorized persons and young people,” Mayor Janice Mironov said. “We encourage our residents to take advantage of this local and convenient opportunity.”

Mayor Mironov also noted that in addition to 'Operation Medicine Cabinet’ the township provides residents with a year-round 24/7 opportunity to dispose of medications in a permanent drop box installed in the lobby of the Police/Court Building, 80 One Mile Road.
