Marines to Conduct Training at Fort Dix

Dont' be alarmed if you hear booms or the earth shaking. It's just a training exercise at Fort Dix.

If you hear a loud boom, or several of them, or feel the ground shaking beneath your feet, don’t worry. It's just the military.

The 3rd Battalion, 14th Marine Regiment; the Marine Wing Support Squadron 472; and the 2nd Battalion 25th Marine Regiment from Garden City, N.Y., are scheduled to conduct firing training at the Fort Dix ranges between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m. Friday, March 8 through Sunday, March 10, according to a Hightstown Engine Co. No. 1

As a result, residents may hear more noise than usual coming from the ranges and may experience possible ground shaking. It is important to note that noise from the ranges may travel farther during overcast weather conditions.Β
