The costs of the new Anker Park playground equipment and play surface were fully underwritten by a $75,000 state local recreation grant, and a $1.3 Million state grant for park and recreation improvements.

The new play equipment includes two new ADA compliant age-appropriate playsets, which are large multi-component play systems complete with climbing options, tubes and tunnels, slides, bridges and covered decks. Additional new features include a merry-go-round, swing sets and spring toys, a GT stock car and a Jumper Flyer Rocker. In addition, a new surface was installed under the new play equipment to provide an attractive, durable and safe ground.

“Anker Park, a popular and prominently located community park right across from the historic Lee Turkey Farm, is a highly used facility which includes a pathway connecting to Wiltshire Park and the adjoining neighborhood,” Mironov said.

“The new and improved playground and play surface is sure to be a hit with our youngest residents, and will serve our community for years to come. We are extremely grateful to our state legislative officials who advocated successfully for the funds to enable the Township to make these great improvements to Anker Park, as well as other Park and Recreation sites.”

The $1.3 Million state grant funds also are fully underwriting several other Township-wide park and recreation projects. The other projects include: Woods Road Community Park new play equipment and rubberized surface, Wiltshire Park pedestrian bridge replacement connecting to Hickory Corner Road, Wiltshire Park basketball court resurfacing, Westfield Park tennis courts resurfacing, and purchase of an outdoor pavilion for the Senior Center.
