Possession of CDS, Shoplifting: East Windsor Police Blotter

The East Windsor Police Blotter dated Jan. 4 had the following reports:

EAST WINDSOR, NJ – On Dec. 26, 2023, at 9:30 p.m., Loss Prevention from Target went to police headquarters to report a past shoplifting. The suspect cut security tags off three vacuum cleaners with a total value of $3,134.89 and placed them in a shopping cart along with miscellaneous merchandise. The suspect bypassed all points of sale and employees. The detective assigned to the investigation identified the suspect as a 27-year-old New York man, who was charged accordingly on a summons pending court action.

On Dec. 29, 2023, at 8:10 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop after observing the front seat passenger not wearing his seatbelt and the vehicle's brake lights inoperable. The passenger, a resident of Haledon, NJ had active warrants out of several jurisdictions and was placed under arrest. The 31-year-old was taken to police headquarters where he was later released on his own recognizance.

On Dec. 29, 2023, at 3:16 p.m., an officer responded to ShopRite for a report of two shoplifters being detained by loss prevention personnel. Investigation revealed that two Plainfield residents attempted to leave the store without paying for $832.21 worth of merchandise. The 29-year-old and a 31-year-old were charged on summonses pending court action.

On Jan. 1, at 2:08 p.m., an officer observed a pedestrian failing to use the designated crosswalk in the area of Route 130 North near Route 571. It was determined that the East Windsor woman had several active warrants for her arrest. The 46-year-old was arrested and a search incident to arrest produced narcotics and drug paraphernalia. She was charged with multiple narcotics offenses and later transported to Mercer County Corrections where she was detained on active warrants.

On Jan. 3, at 7:28 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop after observing a vehicle on Route 130 North with both brake lights inoperable. The driver, a Hamilton resident, was found to have an active East Windsor warrant and was placed under arrest. The 32-year-old was later transported to Mercer County Corrections where she was detained on the active warrant.
