The following is a summary of incidents as reported by East Windsor Police:
EAST WINDSOR, NJ β On May 29, an officer conducted a traffic stop after observing the driver using his cell phone while driving. The driver was found to have active warrants out of Ocean County and Howell Township. The 26-year-old Paterson resident was placed under arrest, taken to police headquarters, processed, and later turned over to the custody of the Ocean County Sheriffβs Department.
On May 30, an officer responded to ShopRite for a past tense shoplifting report. The suspect placed $124.62 worth of seafood and meat in a reusable bag and bypassed all points of sale. ShopRite loss prevention reported that the same suspect committed similar thefts on multiple occasions. The case was assigned to a detective who identified the suspect as a 43-year-old east Windsor resident. The man turned himself in at police headquarters, where he was processed and released on a complaint summons pending court action.

On June 3, an officer responded to The Home Depot for a shoplifting report. Loss prevention personnel stopped the suspect who switched price tags from the items he selected to cheaper items. The total value of merchandise was $263.90. The suspect was also found to have an active warrant out of Ocean Township. The 26-year-old Beachwood resident was placed under arrest, taken to police headquarters, processed, issued a complaint summons, and later released on his own recognizance.
On June 3, an officer responded to The Home Deport for a shoplifting that just occurred. The suspect attempted to leave the store with a ladder valued at $299.00. The Trenton resident was stopped by loss prevention personnel and fled the area. Loss prevention recovered the ladder and provided a description of the suspect and the suspectβs vehicle. The responding officer located the suspect nearby. The officer stopped the vehicle and met with the accused. Additionally, the accused showed signs of impairment and was placed under arrest after failing field sobriety tests. The 36-year-old was taken to police headquarters, processed, issued a complaint summons, issued traffic summonses, and was later released pending court action.
