Since establishing the Film and Digital Media Tax Credit program in 2018, the Garden State has emerged as a premier location for film and television production. In 2024 alone, the state hosted 555 productions, generating nearly $837 million in qualified spending — surpassing the previous record of $701 million set in 2022.

Netflix has been a major contributor to this growth, bringing five productions to New Jersey in 2024, including "Happy Gilmore 2," "A Complete Unknown," and "A House of Dynamite." These three projects alone contributed $320.1 million to the state's economy through location fees, catering, hotels, set construction, wardrobe, and salaries for extras.

In May, Netflix broke ground on a $1 billion, state-of-the-art production facility at the former Fort Monmouth site. The 292-acre development will feature 12 cutting-edge soundstages totaling nearly 500,000 square feet, establishing a premier East Coast production hub.

The New Jersey Department of Transportation supports film and television projects by evaluating location requests and issuing permits for productions filming on state highways, ensuring proper safety protocols are followed.
