Long coached youth sports for his children’s teams, coaching football, baseball, soccer, softball, and even T-Ball. He was a fan of the Miami Dolphins and the NY Mets, according to his obituary.
“His commitment to professional excellence extended to the classroom as an adjunct instructor with the Mercer County Police Academy, where he prepared recruits for the realities of the job. Beyond the badge, Tim coached youth football, baseball, and softball, organized PBA charity events, volunteered at countless fundraisers, and true to his outgoing nature, could bring down the house at karaoke,” the GoFundMe said.
“Most importantly, Tim was devoted to his family. He supported his son Jackson’s high school activities and was unfailingly proud of his daughter Evalyn, who is currently serving on active duty with the United States Air Force in Albuquerque, New Mexico. We extend our deepest sympathy to Jackson, Evalyn, and especially to Tim’s wife, Stella, as they confront this profound loss.”
All proceeds from the fundraiser will go directly to Long’s family.
As of Tuesday, $34,895 was raised.
Long, 50, died after the Honda SUV he was driving on I-295, lost control, ran off the road, struck a traffic sign and a tree, and caught fire, the New Jersey State Police said.
