2 Metuchen Natives Picked In 2023 Major League Baseball Draft

Adam Boucher was picked by the Tampa Bay Rays and Jay Harry was selected by the Minnesota Twins on Monday.

METUCHEN, NJ – Such a proud moment for the Borough! On Monday, two Metuchen residents were picked during the 2023 Major League Baseball Draft.

Right-handed pitcher Adam Boucher was picked in the 10th round by the Tampa Bay Rays. Boucher is a 2020 graduate of St. Joseph’s in Metuchen and went to Duke University. He is expected to begin his professional career immediately.

Former Metuchen High School pitcher Jay Harry was picked by the Minnesota Twins in the 6th round. Harry, a member of the local Metuchen Baseball & Softball, just concluded his third season for Penn State.

Mayor Jonathan M Busch shared the excitement with the borough and congratulated the players.

“We are so proud of Adam and Jay, and so happy for the Boucher and Harry families,” Busch said. “What a year for this community - we have so much for which to be proud.”
