2 Stop & Shop Stores Are Closing In Edison
The supermarket chain said it is shuttering 32 underperforming locations across the Northeast, including 10 in NJ.

EDISON, NJ — Edison is set to lose two supermarkets in the north and south sections of town.
Stop & Shop is closing two of its locations in town by early November. The stores are among 10 in New Jersey that will be closing as the supermarket chain looks to restructure its footprint in the Northeast.
Stop & Shop has close to 400 stores across five states, and is shuttering 32 underperforming locations in New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, and Rhode Island.

The company said all of the impacted stores "are anticipated to close on or before Nov. 2, 2024," and that it will communicate specific store closing dates to local customers "well in advance."
Workers at the closed located will be offered jobs at other supermarket locations, the company said.

- 1083 Inman Ave., Edison
- 1049 US Highway 1 South, Edison
After the closures go into effect, the company said it will still operate more than 350 stores in the Northeast, including 47 in New Jersey.
