According to the synagogue’s attorney, Warren Fink, the additions are needed as the congregation is growing. They currently have 51 full-time members and 23 associate members.
Fink described Congregation Ahavath Yisrael as a “walking synagogue.”

“Driving is strictly prohibited on the Jewish sabbath and Jewish holidays. Just about everyone walks to the synagogue, since they can’t drive in order to attend service,” Fink said.
Apart from offering prayer services, the synagogue offers learning sessions two nights a week, with about 10-15 people, and some weeknight social events.
The new proposal calls for 11 parking spots which would be adequate. Two handicapped accessible spaces have also been proposed.
