Edison To Lease Property To New First Aid Center

The property on 52 Lexington will be leased to Chevra Hatzolah of Middlesex County.

EDISON, NJ – Council recently approved an ordinance to lease a property on 52 Lexington to a non-profit emergency service.

The property owned by the township located at the corner of Lexington Avenue and Leslie Street will be leased to Chevra Hatzolah of Middlesex County. The property is currently not being used by the township.

“It’s a great service and hopefully with this facility, it will serve the community at large. Hopefully, you will be able to expand,” Councilman Ajay Patil said.

Chevra Hatzolah plans to construct an emergency response and first aid center in accordance with the Joshia Levitin designs, according to the ordinance. The services will be accessible to all Edison residents living within a one-mile circumference and will supplement the township’s contracted Hackensack Meridian Health EMS services.

The organization has requested a lease for a 30-year period with two 10-year options.

“I think it’s a great opportunity for the township to have additional services available to help those that are in need to assist the community and improve the quality of life for the residents of Edison,” Council vice-president John Poyner said.

Chevra Hatzolah is one of the largest volunteer ambulance services in the world, according to its website. They typically respond to the scene within two to four minutes.
