Edison’s Joshi, Running Mates Secures Primary Win, Will Face Republican Challenger In Fall

The official results of the 2025 primary election will be certified on or before June 20.

EDISON, NJ – Incumbent Mayor Sam Joshi and his slate declared victory in Tuesday's Primary Election, securing a dominant victory over challengers.

According to the unofficial results from the Middlesex County Clerk’s office, and with all 78 districts reporting, Joshi secured 8,717 votes (67.70%), followed by Lav Patel with 2,245 votes (17.44%) and Richard Brescher with 1,893 votes (14.70%).

“Thank you. Everything we do is for the residents of Edison. On to the general election in November,” Joshi said in a Facebook post shortly before midnight.

His slate of Kelli Dima, Biral Patel and Robert J. Kentos scored decisive victories as well.

Patel bagged 6,956 votes (21.67%), followed by Dima with 6,882 votes

(21.44%) and Kentos with 6,815 votes (21.23%).

Their challengers, Jayesh Mehta,Yingnan "Ingrid" Chen, Anthony DeAmorin and Joyce Ship-Freeman got 3,144, 3,070, 2,810 and 2,378 votes respectively.

Joshi will now head to the contested November general election and will face Republican Gloria Dittman.

Patel, Dima and Kentos will face Republicans Russell J. Azzarello, Kartik Nath, and Samiksha Sharmas in the council race.

The official results of the 2025 primary election will be certified by the County Board of Canvassers on or before June 20.
