EDISON, NJ — An Edison teenager has been charged after allegedly sending an email threatening to shoot classmates at J.P. Stevens High School, Middlesex County Acting Prosecutor Christopher L.C. Kuberiet said.

The male student was charged with multiple counts of false public alarm, terroristic threats, impersonation and one count of computer theft for "incidents that occurred on various dates," including the Sept. 13 threat against the school, Kuberiet said.

The student will not be named because of his age, which officials did not specify, Kuberiet said.

Officials did not say what incidents occurred besides the Sept. 13 threat. That morning, the student allegedly sent at email shortly before 5 a.m. with the subject line "I'm Shooting Up JP Stevens" which contained a graphic description of a school shooting.

The threat was found to be not credible, officials said, and class went on as usual that day.
