“After nearly four years of growing, connecting and building this amazing community here in Metuchen, we decided it's time to close this beautiful chapter. This decision wasn't made of difficulty, but out of alignment with what's next for us,” Dario said.

“We've been so fortunate to have the chance to share our passion with you all in this space, and we're incredibly grateful for your love, your support and all the memories we've made together here.”

Although the Metuchen location is closing, Dario said it isn't goodbye for the shop as they are “still thriving” at the Westfield location and online.

He told the community that the shop has big plans for the future.

“This is simply the next step in our journey, and we're excited for what's to come the. Thank you for embracing us with open arms and being such a big part of our story. It's been such a fulfilling chapter, and will always hold this community close to our hearts,” Dario said.

Dario founded the Terrace Plant Shop in February 2021. The idea came to him after his father and grandfather died due to COVID-19 in March 2020.

While grieving and looking for an outlet to express themselves, Dario and his family turned to greenery as a source of hope and happiness.

A Filipino-American, Dario was born and raised in New Jersey, where “he was surrounded by a family of entrepreneurs who instilled in him the importance of grit, hard-work, and resilience,” the website says.

“Terrace Plant Shop stands as a symbol to all those who have lost of a piece of who they are during the pandemic. We are a reminder that regardless of the current hardships you are facing, your plant will provide you with comfort and outlet for healing.”

Their last operational day will be Sunday, Feb. 23. Throughout February, the store will only be open on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
