Wawa Seeks To Open New Store, Gas Station In Metuchen

METUCHEN, NJ – Wawa is planning to open a new convenience store and gas station in Metuchen.

Suburban Sportsland LLC has filed an application with the borough’s Planning Board, seeking preliminary and final major subdivision and preliminary and final site plan variance to build a new Wawa at Middlesex Avenue on Route 27.

The subdivision will create three parcels - A, B, and C, as well as extend the Bridge Street right-of-way, according to the application.

Parcel A is currently vacant and is proposed to be a fueling station and convenience store .

Parcel B will maintain existing leasing with ancillary sales, automotive and motorcycle repair, truck parking area and sports and athletic facility; light industrial, automotive, motorcycle uses, the application said.

Meanwhile, Parcel C will maintain the existing automotive and motorcycle dealership.

The project is located in Metuchen’s Southwest Gateway Redevelopment Plan Area.

The Planning Board is scheduled to hear the application on June 20.
