Woman Fell Asleep, Caused 5 Car Crash In Edison: PD
Police say the woman was tired after working an overnight shift, and fell asleep behind the wheel.
EDISON, NJ — An Edison woman fell asleep behind the wheel of her car Sunday afternoon, causing a five-car crash on Route 27, Edison police said.
The woman, a 23-year-old, was driving on Route 27 near Municipal Boulevard when she dozed off, tired after working an overnight shift, Edison police said. She left the southbound lanes and sideswiped two cars driving north; two other cars crashed as they tried to get out of her way, police said.
No one was seriously injured; three people were treated for minor injuries or checked out at local hospitals.

One of the northbound lanes was closed as police investigated and cars were towed. Charges against the woman, who was not named, are pending the outcome of the investigation.
