Authorities Arrest Two in Separate Incidents for Sexual Assault of Girls

Daniel O'Brien from Saddle Brook and Julio Peralta-Aguilar from Cliffside Park were arrested for sexually abusing girls under the age of 10.

Two Bergen County men were arrested on the same day for separate incidents after police say they both allegedly engaged in inappropriate sexual activity with a minor.

Daniel O’Brien, 38, of Saddle Brook, was arrested on Feb. 6 after his alleged 9-year-old victim told a coordinator from the NJ Child Abuse Prevention Program (NJCAP), who was speaking at her school, what had occurred, Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said.

Arrangements were made for the victim to be interviewed by a detective from the Special Victims Unit at the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office in Paramus, where the victim provided specific details regarding what had occurred with O’Brien.

O’Brien was charged with one count of aggravated sexual assault, one count of sexual assault and one count of endangering the welfare of a child. Bail was set at $300,000 with no ten percent option, no contact with the victim and the surrender of his passport as a condition of bail. He was remanded to the Bergen County Jail in lieu of bail.

Police also arrested Julio Peralta-Aguilar, 47, from Cliffside Park, on Feb. 6 after his alleged 7-year-old victim told her mother about the abuse, Molinelli said.

The vicim‘s monther took her to Holy Name Medical Center in Teaneck to be examined, and the Division of Child Protection and Permanency (DCP&P) and the Cliffside Park Police Department were contacted, after which the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit was also notified, Molinelli said.

Arrangements were made for the victim to be interviewed by a detective from the Special Victims Unit at the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office in Paramus, where the victim provided specific details regarding what had occurred with Peralta-Aguilar.

Peralta-Aguilar was charged with one count of aggravated sexual assault and one count of endangering the welfare of a child. Bail was set at $250,000 with no ten percent option, no contact with the victim and the surrender of his passport as a condition of bail. He was remanded to the Bergen County Jail in lieu of bail.
