Baumgart's Is Back: New Owners Will Keep Englewood Restaurant Open
Good news for fans of Baumgart's Cafe in Englewood: the eclectic Chinese-American restaurant isn't closing, after all.

ENGLEWOOD, NJ — Good news for fans of Baumgart's Cafe in Englewood: the eclectic Chinese-American restaurant isn't closing, after all.
Baumgart's is known for its classic soda fountain ambiance and homemade ice cream, where diner favorites like chicken salad and burgers are served alongside sushi, homemade Chinese pasta, and Thai curry.
The building at 45 E. Palisade Ave. was sold, and the owners had announced the restaurant would close April 17. But a post on the restaurant's Instagram page indicates the new owners will keep the beloved institution going.

"Thanks to many, Baumgarts Englewood will NOT be closing," the post said. "Baumgarts Englewood is incredibly grateful for all it’s (sic) support over the past few weeks. We are touched by your kind words online and in person. We are currently slowly reopening with the help of the new building owner. Again, we are so grateful for our community and support throughout this time. Thank you again and we are excited for the future."
There is not yet a reopening date.

According to NorthJersey.com, Baumgart's Englewood opened in the 1940s. There are also Baumgart's locations in Edgewater and Ridgewood.
