Mayor Says State Has Englewood in ‘Vise Grip’

Faced with cuts to state aid and an over reliance on local property taxes, Englewood can leverage its people and institutions to overcome the city’s economic woes, Mayor Frank Huttle told a crowd in his annual State of the City address Tuesday night. 

Two associates of the Latin Kings street gang were arrested last week after investigators nabbed them with a kilogram of cocaine bound for Englewood, Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli announced Thursday.

A burglary ring with roots in Teaneck andEnglewood is believed to be behind dozens of burlgaries over at least a year in wealthy Morris and Somerset Counties, NBCNews.com reported Wednesday.

An original group of bandits was dubbed the “James Bond Gang” decades ago for reportedly using a souped-up BMW to escape police. Recent high-end burglaries have been given the 007 moniker.

Freeholder Candidates Reach Out to Korean Community At Englewood Debate

Korean American Civic Empowerment (KACE) and the Korean American Civic Action Committee hosted a Bergen County Freeholder candidates’ debate Thursday at the FGS Korean Community Center in Englewood.
