Englewood to Offer Document Shredding

The following press release was issued by the City of Englewood: 

The City of Englewood, in partnership with the Bergen County Utilities and Nexcut, will hold a confidential document shredding program for Englewood residents on Sunday, April 14, 2013, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., in front of the Public Works building located at 175 S. Van Brunt Street. The event will be held rain or shine. 

City residents will be provided with the opportunity to safely and securely dispose of their confidential and personal documents. This mobile document-shredding service, provided by Safeguard and paid for by the BCUA, will not only provide an effective tool against identity theft, it will help Englewood "Go Green". 

Confidential and personal documents will be handled and recycled in a secure manner, thereby preventing the possibility of identity theft. City residents will have the opportunity to observe their documents being shredded on-site. Acceptable documents are limited to confidential and sensitive materials only. It is not necessary to remove paper clips, staples or paperboard binder covers. 

In an effort to accommodate all those wishing to participate, residents are asked to limit their documents to four bags/boxes weighing no more than 10 pounds each. All non-confidential papers (hardcover books, magazines, newspapers, photographs and x-rays, etc.) should be recycled through the City's regular recycling program and will not be accepted at this event. 

If you have been storing personal and confidential documents because of the fear of being the victim of identity theft, Sunday, April 14 is the day to safely and securely dispose of them.
