A jazz trio will jam for downtown city shoppers and residents Wednesday afternoon as Englewood's Parks and Recreation Department kicks off its outdoor Wednesday concert series in Depot Square Park.
The jazz series, which is being spearheaded by resident percussionist Chuck McPherson, will run for the next three Wednesdays from noon to 1:45 p.m., recreation program supervisor Victoria Pulley said.
James Austin (piano) and Calvin Hill (bass) will perform with McPherson (drums/vocals) at all three Wednesday shows.

Pulley said this is the first year the city has offered the lunchtime jazz series, which is distinct from the Thursday night jazz series being planned at downtown businesses later in the summer.
If he can drum up enough interest, McPherson would like to create a youth percussion group to perform at additional Depot Square Park concerts that he's plannig for the fall, Pulley said.
