Man Indicted in Englewood Arson Spree

No motive in series of fires, report says.

A 25-year-old Englewood man has been indicted in a string of arsons around the city over the summer, according to a report on northjersey.com. 

Marco A. Rene is accused of starting a fire at a home on West Palisade Avenue on May 27. Four people were inside, but there were no injuries, the report said. 

Also that day, Rene allegedly torched five vehicles.

Rene confessed to setting the fires after being questioned by city police, the report said. He reportedly did not offer a motive for the alleged offenses.

He was indicted on nine counts of aggravated arson, the report said.

Records show Rene was living in the United States illegally and being held on a federal immigration detainer, in addition to $2.5 million bail.
