Englewood Teen Reported Missing Arrested in New York

An Englewood teenager missing for more than two months was arrested by New York City police after officers found her in the Bronx early Thursday, according to authorities and a family spokesman. 

Officers investigating a noise complaint found 18-year-old Caroline Starkman, according to Robert Miller, a family friend.  

Starkman was charged with endangering the welfare of a child for allowing a minor to consume alcohol, an NYPD spokesman told Patch. 

Miller said Starkman was treated for a broken hand and taken into police custody. Her status late Thursday was not immediately clear. 

The circumstances surrounding Starkman's disappearance were unclear, but the Jewish Week reported foul play was not suspected. 

The Touro College student went missing in July after visiting a friend in Brooklyn. Her case prompted an outpouring of concern in the local Jewish community and as far away Israel. 

"The family is relieved beyond belief," Miller said. "They are grateful to the community and the thousands of people who prayed for her."

Congregation Ahavath Torah, an Englewood synagogue where Starkman's parents are members, offered a reward for information leading to her safe return. 

"The Starkman family thanks you for all that you have done to aid in her return and they are asking for privacy," Miller wrote in a message posted to a Facebook group formed for Starkman.
