Vote for the Bearded Man, Candidate Says

Republican congressional candidate Rabbi Shmuley Boteach released a web video Monday jokingly asking voters to choose the man with the beard.

The bearded Boteach, Michael Jackson’s former rabbi and author of “Kosher Sex,” is facing clean-shaven Democratic Congressman Bill Pascrell for New Jersey’s 9th district.

“Abraham Lincoln was considered to be our greatest president by historian and layman alike, whiskered and breaded. Coincidence? I think not," Boteach jokes in the video.

“As we enter into Rosh Hashana, I wish each and every one of you a very happy and sweet new year infused with God’s light, joy and blessings. May this year be prosperous for all of you – perhaps slightly more for us Republicans – but to you Democrats as well,” the rabbi said in a statement. “May God bless each and every one of you, may there be peace on earth, and may this great nation live up to its fullest potential – especially the innate male potential to sport facial hair.”
