Women Rescued After Vehicle Goes Off Hackensack Bridge

Two woman are alive after their car went off Route 80’s Hackensack River Bridge Friday morning and fell 60 feet to the ground.

Elizabeth Wolthoff, 25, and Rebecca Winslo, 23, both of Bergenfield, were traveling in a Toyota Rav4 at 7:10 a.m. when they were forced to swerve after being cut off by another vehicle, NorthJersey.com reported. The Toyota hit a snowbank on the side of the highway, which acted as a ramp, and went over the bridge.

The Toyota landed upright about 40 feet away from the river, according to NorthJersey.com. Hackensack firefighters responded and used the “Jaws of Life” to rescue the women.

According to NJ.com, Wolthoff and Winslo complained of neck and back pain and were transported to Hackensack University Medical Center.
