Armed, Masked Man Robs 3 Gas Stations + 7/11 In Half Hour: Bergen Cops

A speedy gunman is suspected of robbing three gas stations and a convenience store in just 30 minutes Sunday night, officials say.

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A convenience store and three gas stations were robbed of at least $2,900 Sunday night by an armed and masked man police have yet to find, officials said Monday.

The busy gunman — who wore dark clothes and gloves — hit the Fair Lawn 7-Eleven, a Paramus BP, and a Mahwah Valero and Sunoco between 10:40 and 11:10 p.m., police said.

The robber first hit the BP gas station at 220 Route 4 about 10:40 p.m., Chief Kenneth Ehrenberg said.

The gunman waited for his car to be filled with gas, then pulled out a handgun and stole $400 from the attendant, officials said.

The robber appeared just minutes later at the Fair Lawn store on 31-28 Broadway, where he grabbed items from the shelves then hid in a bathroom, police said.

When other customers had cleared out, the man burst out of the bathroom, whipped out a handgun and demand cash from the female clerk, police said.

He made off with $2,500 in cash and fled east on Broadway, police said.

About 20 minutes later, Mahwah police received back-to-back reports of armed robberies at the Valero and the Sunoco stations on Route 17, officials said.

At the Valero, the gunman once again whipped out a gun and demanded cash from the register and an attendant before driving away onto Route 17, Jaffe said.

The robber then hit the Sunoco register and disappeared, officials said. Jaffe said the same person is suspected in each of the four robberies.

Fair Lawn, Paramus and Mahwah police are investigating the robberies. Anyone with information on any of these incidents is asked to call police.
