Auxiliary Police Swear in Newest Member
Fair Lawn resident Alexandra Vanni, 19, was sworn in Tuesday as a member of the Fair Lawn auxiliary police.
The Fair Lawn Auxiliary Police swore in its newest officer at Tuesday's borough council meeting.
Alexandra Vanni, 19, a lifelong resident and 2012 graduate of Fair Lawn High School was sworn in by Mayor John Cosgrove.
Vanni, who graduated earlier this month as president of the county's auxiliary police class, will immediately begin her field training in Fair Lawn. She's been an active member of the Fair Lawn Police Explorer program and is currently majoring in criminal justice at Bergen Community College with the goal of eventually becoming a police officer.

The auxiliary police train throughout the year under the supervision of the borough police department. They patrol in marked Fair Lawn Police vehicles, provide courtroom security and assist with traffic and crowd control at parades, carnivals and the fireworks display.
