Bank Robbery Reported In Fair Lawn
A woman made off with between $7,000 and $8,000 Friday afternoon, police said.
FAIR LAWN, NJ - Authorities are searching for a woman they say robbed a bank in Fair Lawn on Friday afternoon.
Around 2:13 p.m., police were called to Columbia Bank, located at 24-02A Fair Lawn Avenue, after receiving a report that a bank robbery just occurred, Sgt. Brian Metzler said.
According to Metzler, a "heavy set black female, wearing a light-colored jacket and pants, gloves and sunglasses" passed a note to a teller while keeping one hand in her pocket. She then placed her pocketed hand on top of the counter for the teller to see, Metzler said.

Approximately $7,000 to $8,000 was taken, bank officials told police.
She then fled through the front door, entered a Pet Supplies Plus store located next door and ran through the back exit into a parking lot, he said.

Authorities do not yet know if she fled the area in a car or on foot and pictures of the suspect are not currently available.
