Boil Advisory No Longer in Effect [UPDATE]

A water main broke at River Road and Hopper Avenue Friday.

Fair Lawn officials issued a second boil advisory in a week Friday after a water main broke at River Road and Hopper Avenue.

The advisory was ended Sunday afternoon.

Only residents who live near the area and have lost service or seen a drop in pressure needed to boil their water before drinking it, according to a notice from borough officials.

Borough officials advised those who do need to boil their water to do so for three minutes before drinking it. Water used for bathing or washing clothes does not need to be boiled.

Anyone with questions can contact the Water Department at (201) 794-5374. THe advisory will remain in effect until further notice.

Friday's water main break was the second this week in Fair Lawn. The first happened Tuesday morning on Plaza Road near Morlot Avenue.
