Driver Hits S. Broadway Utility Pole, Charged with DWI

Saddle Brook resident Kerri Coffey, 39, received summonses for driving while intoxicated and careless driving, police said.

A Saddle Brook woman was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated Wednesday afternoon after she lost control of her vehicle on S. Broadway and struck a utility pole, Fair Lawn police said.

After failing a roadside sobriety test, Kerri Coffey, 39, was administered an Alcotest at the Elmwood Park Police Department, Sgt. James Krizek said. Her blood alcohol content registered .25, three times the legal limit, he said.

Coffey was issued summonses for driving while intoxicated and careless driving.

The utility pole she struck split, but did not fall, Krizek said. Public Service responded to the scene at S. Broadway and Wayne Road to make an emergency repair because of the precarious nature of the broken pole, he said.

The road remained closed for approximately four hours, until 9 p.m., while PSEG made repairs, Krizek said.
