'Eager To Contribute': Fair Lawn Star Student

FAIR LAWN, NJ — Star students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize star students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.

How do you know the star local student?

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?

Prema is the Fair Lawn High School junior class president. She is an advanced placement student and member of the band. She is a stage performer, and has been a part of several school and community theatre productions.

Moreover, Prema volunteers as the economic development intern at Fair Lawn Main Street, Inc., a district management corporation that manages the commercial corridors and facilitates economic growth within the borough. The entity aims to promote the historic and economic redevelopment of traditional business districts in New Jersey. In her role, Prema has worked to engage young people into economic development activities. She also devotes her energy to seeking grants, interfacing with local officials and contributing to the organization's success. In her capacity as intern, Prema is working with the Fair Lawn Historic Preservation Commission on preservation-related initiatives.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?

As Prema's supervisor, I can attest that she is an "all-star student." She is very eager to contribute to the betterment of Fair Lawn. I could not ask for a better intern.
