Bergen County Man Sexually Assaulted Teen 'Multiple' Times, Prosecutor Says

A man in Bergen County has been charged for sexually assaulting a teen on "multiple" occasion, prosecutors said.

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A 22-year-old Edgewater man has been arrested for assaulting a local teen on "multiple" occasions, prosecutors said.

Deandre J. Nunez has been charged with sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child, said the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office.

Prosecutors said that on May 21, the Edgewater Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding the alleged sexual assault of a juvenile.

An investigation determined that Nunez sexually assaulted and endangered a child between age 13 and 16 "on multiple occasions" between November 2024 and the current month, prosecutors said.

Last Thursday, Nunez was arrested in Edgewater.

He was brought to the Bergen County Jail to await a first appearance in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, prosecutors said.

Response From Family

A spokesperson for Nunez' family said on June 2, "The family urges the public and the media to respect the ongoing legal process and refrain from rushing to judgment based on incomplete narratives. At this time, no conviction has been made, and Deandre maintains his innocence."
