Fair Lawn Police Car Involved in Minor Two-Car Accident

Slick road conditions contributed to a minor accident Tuesday morning in which a Fair Lawn police car rear-ended a vehicle that stopped abruptly in front of it on Fair Lawn Avenue, Sgt. Richard Schultz said.

The cars were traveling eastbound on Fair Lawn Avenue in the area of the Route 208 on-ramp when the car directly in front of the police vehicle stopped short, Schultz said. Patrol Officer Alan Annazone, who was driving the police car, skidded while attempting to stop on the wet road and slid into the stopped car's rear bumper, Schultz said.

Both cars suffered minor damage, but no one was hurt, Schultz said. He did not know yet why the first car had stopped or whether any tickets would be issued.

The police car inovlved in the accident remained in service the rest of the day and is on the road again Wednesday.
