Fair Lawn Police Help Mother After Delivering Baby

Two Fair Lawn police officers started off their shift Monday morning with the arrival of a newborn baby.

FAIR LAWN, NJ – Two Fair Lawn police officers started off their shift Monday morning with the arrival of a newborn baby.

Just before 7:15 a.m., officers Brendan Loaiza and Luke Hintzen responded to a 4thStreet home after receiving a report that a 37-year-old woman had just delivered a baby, Sgt. Brian Metzler said.

Upon arrival, officers found the mother holding her new arrival and they assisted in cleaning the baby and suctioning his airway, Metzler said.

The mother and her son were taken to Englewood Hospital by Fair Lawn Volunteer Ambulance Corps., he said.

Metzler said the baby boy – who has not yet been named – joins an older sister.
